Classic Literature Analysis
through different literacy elements
including the critical application of AI
(Grades 3-5/Different classic literature options)
Our profound and fun Classic Literature classes with AI will familiarize students with known classic literature such as the one above. We will teach them to analyze a book excerpt thoroughly from different angles using traditional methods and AI. Students will work through one of the following eight categories:
-
Vocabulary
-
Retrieval
-
Summary
-
Inference
-
Prediction
-
Text Meaning
-
Author’s Use of Language
-
Compare and Contrast
The category's basics get introduced through fun practice and theory at the beginning of each class. Students will explore the category further by working through related exercise sheets. The exercise sheets will be based on one brief excerpt from the book. The reason for focusing on an excerpt rather than reading an entire book is not to overwhelm younger students. This method allows students to analyze the text in depth and from different perspectives while enjoying the learning process and having fun. We will use among other material the fantastic British award-winning classic literature teaching material from Brilliant Publications.
If students want to read a complete novel but struggle with text comprehension, we can set up students with AI versions adapted to different skill levels without losing the quality of each book. And although we encourage students to read the English version of a novel, we understand the support a translation can provide. Therefore, we can equip students with leveled and multilingual versions of each book in many languages. We will provide both options by using the features from the state-of-the art Adaptive Reader.
Our Classic Literature class will be interactive. We normally use a combination of the Socratic Method and let students analyze the content and work through exercises together as a team. They will learn valuable practices and tools along the way and will have the chance to hone their writing skills by answering questions using a proper writing format.
As AI finds its way more and more into students' lives, we will show students the importance of learning how to analyze and write themselves instead of solely relying on AI and how they can use AI to their advantage. Students will complete certain exercises once with and once without the use of AI. They will then compare both outcomes afterwards to conclude which is better.
Our founder uses the material in combination with her knowledge, practices, and content ideas, as she has taught this class successfully in Canada and China. After classes, students will receive homework, so that students will solidify the learned class content.

This class will require students to read the actual novel. If students struggle with text comprehension, we can set them up with AI versions adapted to different skill levels without losing the quality of each book. This way, they can read the original and adapted versions for all pages side-by-side.
